Nurturing a Love of Learning
Between infancy and kindergarten, children experience a phenomenal amount of growth and development – language, motor skills, social interaction and self-esteem. These magical years are a time when a child’s individual gifts and personality traits emerge, and their curiosity is in full bloom. Early Childhood at The Albany Academies (ECA) provides the perfect mix of experiences and opportunities for young children, planting the seeds that will nurture their development and curiosity and grow into a lifelong love of learning.
ECA is a coed program for three-year-olds operated by The Albany Academies. Housed on the West Campus (The Albany Academy building), ECA offers a warm and nurturing environment. Our approach recognizes that children learn through active, meaningful interactions with peers and adults, and developmentally appropriate materials.
ECA teachers emphasize the development of the whole child, offering a balance of indoor and outdoor activities, active and quiet play, and child-initiated and teacher-directed interactions. Learning Centers include building, drama, sand, water, computer, story telling, art, music, and science and math. Every day, one special teacher provides instruction in art, music, creative movement, physical education (including seasonal ice skating and swimming) or library.
ECA begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m. for full-day students; 8:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. for half-day students. Early Morning Care is available at no extra cost from 7:30- 8:30 a.m.
Extended Day Care is available from 3:20-5:30 p.m. on the East Campus (Albany Academy for Girls building) and 3:20-5:45 p.m. on the West Campus (The Albany Academy building). Families are charged only for the time a child is in attendance; the program can be used one day a year or every day. There is an initial yearly one-time registration fee of $10, which needs to be sent in with your child’s registration form indicating that you intend to use the program. Families now have two options for payment.
For those families who plan to use the program every school day, we now have a set fee of $636 per trimester. This is a reduced rate and must be prepaid prior to the first day of each trimester. Please refer to the school calendar for these trimester dates.
Daily/Drop-in rate is for families who plan to attend the program less than 5 days per week. Each student will be billed at the rate of $8/hr per child. This is a pay as you go option.
