The Albany Academies Upper School students (Grades 9-12/Form III-VI) are deeply engaged in their academic experience. A rigorous curriculum and a stellar faculty help Academies students become critical, creative and independent thinkers. Students and teachers enjoy a dynamic relationship that is warm and respectful. In this close-knit and intellectually lively setting, students at both schools enjoy a rich variety of opportunities to grow – in the classroom, in athletics, in the arts and in the community.
Beginning in ninth grade, students receive guidance in choosing academic courses in which they will be both challenged and successful. Advanced Placement courses, honors tutorials, independent study projects and internships allow students to pursue advanced-level work and further explore interests.
Our cross-enrollment program gives students the opportunity to take classes at either school. Single-gender classes in the core courses in grades 9 and 10 ensure sensitivity to how boys and girls learn differently. The Coordinate Program provides a broader curriculum and allows us to continue to offer a wide array of AP courses and electives.
The Academies’ strong curriculum and leadership and experiential opportunities, combined with our comprehensive college counseling program, offer graduates access to the nation’s leading colleges and universities.
