VISITING ARTIST SERIES
The Visiting Artist Series is an important program funded by the AAPA that supports and enriches the Arts program at the Academies and introduces students to the majesty and beauty of various aspects of the arts.
Students have the opportunity to engage in hands-on activities with artists from a broad array of disciplines throughout the school year, helping to get them engaged and excited about the arts.
VISITING ARTIST SERIES
The AAPA supports a variety of activities, including:
Fundraising: The Parents Association conducts a variety of fundraisers annually to support initiatives that directly enhance the education of our children.
Barnes and Noble Book Fair – raises funds to underwrite the Distinguished Author Series. It brings visiting authors to the Academies each year to introduce the students in all divisions to the many styles of writing.
Holiday Greens Sale and Spring Flower Sale – raises funds to pay for the Visiting Artists Series. It brings visual and performing artists to the schools to give the students an up close and personal view of professional artists and their various forms of art.
Please note that the AAPA will not be offering the Holiday Greens Sale during the 2009-2010 school year.
Fashion Show – is the main social event of the year for female members of the Academies community. Funds raised go to underwriting the many community service activities of the associations, such as faculty appreciation, commencement gift, middle school dance, etc.
Uniform Exchange: Provides gently used uniforms and sports equipment for sale at greatly reduced prices.
General Assistance: There are many volunteer opportunities in addition to those listed above. Some require only a one-time commitment of an hour or two.
